Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University visit
Fifteen Year 11 Gifted and Talented students from each of the four IC6 partner schools shared an inspirational visit to Corpus Christ College, Cambridge University on September 15th as part of the integrated IC6 Higher Education and Careers advice programme.
University visits are planned for Year 11 students in order to help raise awareness and aspiration early on by giving them first hand insight into different aspects of university life.

IC6 excels for second successive year!
IC6 has repeated the fantastic 2010 results in achieving a 99% pass rate for all A level and Vocational courses. Almost 50% of all students achieved the higher A*-B grades. Recruitment is up 35% from 2010 with over 700 students enrolled for 2011-12.
To repeat the tremendous step forward in achievement whilst also increasing our student numbers so significantly is an outstanding achievement and demonstrates the tremendous work of our staff and the mechanisms in place to support and monitor our students.

IC6 UCAS/HE workshop programme
IC6 students enjoyed a stimulating three day UCAS/Higher Education programme of workshops with sessions delivered by staff and student ambassadors from Brunel University, City University London, University of Greenwich, London School of Economics and Political Science, Queen Mary University of London and University of Sussex.

IC6 student runs for charity
IC6 student Keith Ly has just completed an ultra-marathon to raise money for the Japanese Tsunami Earthquake Appeal. The run circumnavigated the whole London Underground Network, approximately 275 miles long, with an aim to raise £10,000 (approx. ¥1.35million). This had never been attempted or completed before.

Music First at the House of Lords
A reception to celebrate the formal launch of Music First took place at the House of Lords on 15th June. Hosted by Lord Falconer of Thoroton, this event marked Music First’s transition from our pilot hub at Highbury Grove to expansion across Islington and beyond.
The River Room was full of distinguished guests who were greatly impressed by the playing of Cyan Koay and Deronne White from Highbury Grove, and the youngest Music First ambassador present, Daniel Bernard, who performed as part of a cello trio with two Music First Hub tutors, Louisa Danmeri and Agnieszka Teodorwska.

Ofsted judge IC6 Sixth Form provision 'Outstanding'
The Sixth Form at Central Foundation Boys' School has been graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted at the latest school inspection making it one of only 13 sixth form provisions in the UK to be graded 'Outstanding' for Overall Effectiveness. This grading, coupled with the Contextualised Value Added score, places the Sixth Form’s performance in the top 5% nationally.

St. Aloysius' College celebrates first year as part of IC6
St Aloysius’ College first year as part of IC6 has proved to be a great success.
Since joining IC6 in September 2010 sixth form teaching at St Aloysius got off to an excellent start with a positive set of Year 12 AS results.

Globe restaurant opening
Eight Year 12 IC6 Hospitality Diploma students who shared a vision to provide mouth-watering, tasty food from around the world, realised their dreams when they hosted the opening of their own restaurant ‘The Globe’ at Central Foundation Boys’ School - transforming a classroom into a fully-functioning restaurant and preparing and serving food to the VIP staff guest-list.

Cambridge University visit IC6
On 17th May IC6 Year 10 partner school students attended a talk given by Dr Melanie Taylor from Cambridge University.
The talk forms part of the IC6 Raising Aspirations programme for Gifted and Talented students structured to support and foster student aspiration and enable our students in their applications to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities.
