Central Foundation Boys’ School
Course Outline
Law AS/A2 provides an excellent introduction to the law. You will learn about many areas of the law including: criminal offences including murder; the courts; the legal profession including barristers and solicitors; the philosophy behind the law; parliament, how it works and how pressure groups influence parliament.
The course will be of great benefit to those who may want to pursue a career in law. Firstly, the course will help you decide if a career in law is for you. Throughout the course you will develop the skills and knowledge that will help you to be successful whilst studying at university. We run a programme of events and support for those students who want to become lawyers, this includes visits by solicitors and barristers and the chance to have a successful lawyer as a mentor. Our support programme is run in conjunction with a top City of London law firm. The staff who deliver the course are all qualified lawyers and have considerable experience of working as lawyers.

The study of law provides key skills for life, such as problem solving and analytical skills.

No pre-course reading required. It would be beneficial for students to read newspapers such as the Times as they have some very good legal articles.
