Course Outline

This course offers you an opportunity to improve ICT capability and develop problem solving skills to equip you for use in life, and a career in ICT and/or business. You will put into practice a wide range of software and hardware to create ICT systems, solving business problems. You will study the effects of ICT in the world today and expand on your understanding of developments in technology. You will also learn to work in teams and to manage your own project.

Unit 1: Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World
Unit 2: Living in the Digital World

A2   
Unit 3: The Use of ICT in the Digital World
Unit 4: Coursework: Practical Issues Involved in the Use of ICT in the Digital World

Entry Requirements

6 GCSEs at Grade C or above including at least a B grade in GCSE ICT.

Assessment

80% examination, 20% coursework

Progression

This course is a recognised route into university and work. You will be able to follow an ICT course at university. The course is also a valuable starting point for a career in any area of ICT or business. Computers are so widely used now that the skills and knowledge gained on the course will be useful in a range of careers.

Pre-course reading or preparation

Work experience in a business would help with selecting a company for the A2 project. It would also be of benefit for future employment in the IT industry.
