Arsenal FC Business Case Studies
17/02/10
IC6 always welcomes opportunities to develop and strengthen community links but never more so when the links are with Arsenal FC! So when Samir Singh from the Community and Education Department invited Marcus Dilley, Head of Business Studies and Chris Potgieter Head of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism at Central Foundation Boys' School to assist in piloting the exciting new Arsenal business studies cases for schools they knew how keen students would be to take part.
The group of IC6 business studies students who attended the launch night included Daniel Cartwright and Abubakar Abdillah, Year 12 Business Diploma students, who spoke to an audience of over 100 including Ivan Gazidis, chief executive of Arsenal FC who told the Islington Gazette that the aim of the course is to 'offer students the opportunity to understand the operational side of a football club'.
Central Foundation Boys' School have taken advantage of the case studies by working with Arsenal on their Customer Service unit on the Business Diploma course. This involved a series of lessons run by Samir Singh and a follow-up visit to the Emirates Stadium with a workshop on the different aspects of the club business and the opportunity to see various areas of the stadium relating to hospitality, customer care and marketing.
